Evil Geniuses to shut down all operations on November 2The Samurai cruised through the BO5 (best-of-five), denying KC even a single map and confirming their status as the region's top side heading into the LEC playoffs.
Karmine Corp now drop into the lower bracket final, where they will face Movistar KOI on Sunday. MKOI booked their place with a clean 2-0 win over NAVI earlier in the evening. The Sunday clash is a rematch of the upper bracket series played two days ago, which KC took 2-0 to send MKOI down the bracket. This time the two sides will meet in a BO5, and the winner will join G2 at the EWC.
A third EMEA slot also remains up for grabs. If either G2 or Sunday's winner go on to lift the Spring Split trophy, the final ticket will be handed to the third member of the trio that has dominated the region since the start of the year.
Attention will quickly shift for KC, however. They face G2 again next week at the Riot Arena to kick off the LEC playoffs, once more in a BO5, in what has become more than just another playoff bout. Having now lost three consecutive series to their rivals, two in the past few weeks — 2-0 in Madrid and 3-0 again this Saturday — KC will need to prove the result has not become a mental block, and that they have drawn the right lessons from those defeats if they really want to contest the title to the defending champion.
