Gen.G’s Kiin on the HLE win and the road ahead: “I expect to meet either T1 or DK”

Hello Kiin, how does it feel to beat a fellow LCK team here at the tournament?

We were up against an opponent we’re very used to and have met many times. Since this is a new stage of Words, it felt quite refreshing. I was maybe a little nervous, but I’m really glad we were able to secure the victory.

You never face them in a BO1, it’s always a BO3. What’s the main difference between preparing against HLE for a BO1 versus a BO3?

After game one, there’s nothing else that follows. So we just go ahead and pick what we’re most confident in.

Canyon has played Qiyana twice so far at this Worlds. Do you think we won’t see it anymore? Will teams start banning it?

I think that really depends on the team. Even if you’re unstoppable on one champion, some teams just let it through. So it’s going to depend on who we’re against.

Who do you want to face in the next round? MKOI are already locked in, and it’s either T1 or DK. Who would you pick?

Personally, I’ve never had much luck with my matchups in tournaments. So I expect to meet either T1 or DK.

Last question before we close out. Gen.G have fallen short many times at Worlds. What will make the difference this time to secure the trophy?

We’ve always fallen short before reaching the trophy. That’s why we’ve been preparing so desperately for our goal, which is to reach the very top of the tournament. All the work and effort we’ve put in will pay off in the end and lead us onto the path we want to be on.
