BLG Viper on BLG's draft: "All the champions we got were the ones we like playing"

What do you think made the difference in this game? It looked close.

Yeah, from the draft, we were actually able to get our priority picks, and all the champions we were able to get were the ones we were actually comfortable playing, the ones we like playing. And although it went pretty 50-50 until the very end, I think in the mid game we definitely were trying really hard not to add to our mistakes, and just to play it out better. Although there were so many mistakes throughout the game, I think we just ended up having the better teamfight composition. So we were eventually able to win through the team fight.

You faced Caliste again. Do you remember his Jhin back at First Stand? He became well known for that performance against you.

Yeah, I definitely do remember, so clearly. Even last year when I faced him, it was at the finals, and I was actually also playing Kai’Sa — I clearly remember that part. But this player just doesn’t give space for me to hit him. So I think that’s what I do remember from him. But this time around, I was hoping that this was going to look different.

You told me right before the start of this event that the most important thing for BLG was momentum. How were you able to shift that momentum after the loss against MKOI?

Yeah, so, I mean, just because we lost one game, we didn’t want to get into that negative mindset. In the Swiss stage, anything can happen. We knew that we could win, we knew that we could lose. It was predictable that it could go either way. So we tried to really just keep our focus on our own game. And we told ourselves, as long as we are able to stay positive and just look forward, we can actually flip it around and get our momentum back. So I think after that one loss, we were just focused on making sure that we win the next one, which was the TL game.

Now you move on to the 2-1 bracket. Is there any team you want to face here? And do you feel you can actually make it to the end and secure that second world championship?

Yeah, I mean, I feel like no matter who our opponent is, we’re pretty confident that we can actually defeat them. And whoever meets us, I’m sure they’re going to feel very uncomfortable facing us. And as for another chance at the world championship, I feel like this is the right opportunity, and I believe that this is another chance that I have at the trophy.
