BLG Knight on who he wants to face next: “I’d like to face off against T1”

BLG are 2-1 at Worlds after beating KC, and Knight already knows who he wants next. DPM Esports caught up with the BLG mid laner after the win to talk about the communication that turned their tournament around, the LPL’s 0-4 opening day and the T1 matchup he’s hoping the draw gives him.

How did you feel about today’s match?

So the biggest feeling is, KC is definitely a very strong team, and also they can be really troublesome in the early game — especially, they can have a really good early to mid game tempo. But maybe for BLG’s side, we just did a better job in the team fights. But they’re still a very strong opponent.

If we get a chance to face off against each other next time, I really need to do better from the laning phase.

And how did you feel about Kyeahoo? It’s his second international event, third if you take the EWC into account, but it was your first time facing him.

So I think, for KC’s mid laner, he can really play very stably, he has a rather stable playstyle, and he really did a good job with the late game. You know, the mages, this kind of mid lane champions. So if we get a chance to face off against each other next time, I really need to do better from the laning phase.

Viper was telling me that BLG is a team that depends heavily on momentum. How were you able to shift that momentum after the loss to MKOI earlier?

I think the main reason is about the communication, because after the first loss, we kind of really have a bunch more communication inside the game. And also we chat a lot during the preparation. So because of that, we can really have an even stronger bond. So that could be the reason why we have a better performance on the stage.

I believe in BO5 we could have an even better performance.

Knight · to DPM.LOL

Do you feel like BLG is already at its top level, or do you think you can do much better than what you’ve shown so far?

I believe for BLG, we’re always a team that can ramp up through the tournament. You can just do better and better for every single game. And also, if we can qualify to the quarterfinals, I believe in BO5 we could have an even better performance.

A lot of people were doubting the LPL after that first day. Do you believe it was just bad luck, or down to the fact that you’d just arrived? How do you explain that poor start, and do you believe the LPL is just as strong as in other years?

Although we ended up with 0-4 for the LPL on day one, sometimes we could get some lead from the early game for most of the teams. It’s just that we made some mistakes here and there, and then we unfortunately weren’t able to grab the final victory. So we feel like, if all the LPL teams make very good adjustments in the future and try to make fewer mistakes inside the game, we still can show a very decent performance on the stage.

You’ve been considered the best player in China for years now. Does it weigh on your shoulders to carry all the hopes of your region?

I don’t have much pressure on my shoulder, and I really don’t think or care about whether I’m the strongest one or not in my region. What I really want to do is just to concentrate and focus on my in-game content and try to perform well on the stage.

I’d like to face off against T1 — and then just put them into the 2-2 bracket.

Knight · to DPM.LOL

Is there a team or a player you really want to face here, and to beat?

I’d like to face off against T1, you know, to meet each other in the next draw and then just put them into the 2-2 bracket.

Would you want to be the one eliminating them? Would that be satisfying — getting revenge for 2024?

If we meet each other in the elimination match and we grab the win, that will make me feel even more excited. But if we could get a victory against T1 in the next game, then T1 will be in the 2-2 bracket, where there could be another LCK team — Hanwha Life Esports. So the two of them may meet each other, and that would be LCK versus LCK, maybe more interesting to watch for the fans.
